One of the best times to see your primary care provider is when you are not sick. Preventative care is 100 percent covered by most insurance plans and gives your provider a chance to identify concerns early. Annual checkups also give you time to get to know your provider. That way, when an issue does arise or you get sick, you can turn to a provider you trust.
Annual physical exams typically include:
A review of your health history.
A check of vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate).
A heart and lung exam.
A head and neck exam to look for infections or sinus problems.
A test of reflexes.
A skin check to look for abnormal moles or growths.
Men’s exams also include checks of the genitals and prostate. Women’s exams include Pap tests and pelvic exams. Click here to learn more about gynecologic care available in our office.
If you are living with a chronic condition such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol or arthritis, it is important to have a primary care physician overseeing your medical care. When you Live Well Family Health Center, you get a team of professionals who will work to understand your medical history and determine if you should be under the care of a specialist for any conditions. If you are already seeing a specialist, our office will coordinate your care. This ensures that all your medications are monitored, and any changes in your condition are reported to each provider who needs to know.
The body size differences are paralleled by maturation changes. The smaller body of an infant or neonate is substantially different physiologically from that of an adult. A common adage is that children are not simply “little adults”. Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. Dr. Bain is trained in family medicine and has extensive training and experience treating our younger patients.
